Tryouts

Fun Cheer at Bucklers Park

Fun Cheer at Bucklers Park ↯

Team placements were announced 20th July

Main tryouts are now complete and team announced and training confirmed.

Missed out?

We may have select places/positions on competitive teams available from September.

Please email if you have skills and are looking to join a competitive team.

No new members for the upcoming season will be accepted on to competitive teams (other than Twinkles, Gemstones and Moonstones) after our first week of training in September 2025.

Got a question? Cheercoach@artemis-studios.co.uk.

You will be required to tumble, unless you are applying for a non tumble team.

Please see the skills levels needed for each team in the FAQ’s below.

    1. Read the skills levels.

    2. Book the session that meets your age.

    3. Please read the General information pack (above)

    4. A full season info pack will be sent to you if you are offered a place for the current season, this is so we can update competition destinations for 2026 if needed.

    5. Got questions? No problem! Email Alisha, one of our Head Coaches.

    6. Come to tryouts and have an amazing time!

    7. Consider any offers made, and if you have questions get back in touch.

    8. Accept your offer, and share your tee shirt size so we can put you into the team and get your members shirt made.

    9. See you in September to begin work with your team!

  • Bring a bottle of water. Wear shorts, tee shirt, socks and cheer shoes or clean trainers. Long hair must be tied back. No jewellery (it could get caught).

  • The sessions will be filmed and each athlete will fill out a form (or a parent will) and a photo taken. This is so coaches can help accurately place on teams after the sessions, or arrange recalls for higher level athletes. Footage will not be shared. Individual pictures will not be shared. Group photos may be used on social media.

  • The coaches will take everyone through 60+ minutes of cheer, dance and tumbling to assess where they are now, and what might be possible with more training. Athletes will get a full and busy session. Higher levels may be recalled the month following week, to undertake more skills checks and pushing with coaches

  • We will always place team members at the highest level based on what they do in tryouts. This may not be the same level at which you are currently competing. Coaches will look at Tumble ability, Jump Technique, Performance, and Coachability.

During call-backs, we will also look at Stunt Technique. It’s not just what you can do on the day, it’s also about who you can become throughout the season.

Each team has a small number of non-Tumble positions available. These are reserved for athletes with outstanding Stunt and Jump technique, along with great performance and sportsmanship.

    Factors for places include (not an exhaustive list);

    • Maximum team member numbers based on competition rules

    • Being able to show skills levels consistently and under pressure (replicating a competition)

    • Being the correct age for a specific team

    • Being available for all competitions

    • Being available on all training days

    • Having a place available for the skillset in your age division

Senior and Open athletes who would like to tryout for both Tumble and Non-Tumble must let coaches know.
