FREE Hip Hop crew tryouts

Our competitive teams attend between 2 and 6 competitions a year.

Artemis Hip Hop and Commercial is overseen by Team England choreographer Carla Crowley, whose teams represent the UK at World Championships.

Carla joined us as our Head of Hip Hop, Street, Urban and Contemporary Dance in September 2021 and has built up 5 crews and 5 technique classes for Artemis, leading us to Worlds (Duo World champions 2024!) in under 2 years!

Joining one of our junior or senior crews is by invitation only, and dancers will be selected from our technique classes or August crew tryouts (Junior/Senior).

Mini and Youth crews don’t need an audition, if they gain a place in class they can compete or perform with their crew.

All crew members must continue to take technique classes to be part of a crew (exams are optional, but we have 100% pass rates and most at 94% score or higher).

  • Little Monsters (Mini) (5-8 yrs). No audition

  • Dynamite (Youth) (8-11yrs) No audition

  • Breakout (Junior) (9 - 14yrs) *Audition

  • Precision (Senior U18) (15- 18yrs) FULL

  • Legion (Senior Open) (14- 19++yrs) *Audition

Technique and exams class only;

  • Junior (9-14) No audition

  • Senior (14-adult) No audition

About Carla

Carla Crowley is a Team England choreographer, as well as running dance for our full time college.

Carla sets all choreo for the crews and exams, and throughout the term comes to classes to make sure everyone is making the progress they should.

In 2023/24, 100% of students who chose to take exams passed, and 85% scored 94/100 or higher (some got a perfect 100/100).

From September 2024, Carla’s team will deliver the teaching in technique and crew sessions, and she will give masterclasses as needed on top of this.

Carla will also be leading the work on our 2025 Disney World performance, holiday workshops and Artemis@18.

Her team of teachers are fantastic and hand picked for their skills and experience.
